Avoid Costly Damage

The Service Charge for replacing a broken or damaged curb stop valve -- the shut off valve at your water meter -- is $350. We have had 5 of these broken in the past 12 months and residents are responsible when a contractor they've hired breaks it. These are BALL VALVES, they do not work like faucets where you twist them around to shut off. They only rotate 1/4 turn from OFF to ON. OFF is when the little holes in the tab for locking the meter are aligned, in which case the bar on the top is perpendicular to the direction of the meter. ON is when that bar on top is pointing to the meter.
